National Champion for second year
19.05.2011St Helens Karate student and England Squad member Nicole Donoghue (10 JAY) defended her title as reining National Champion at the Karate Union of Great Britain 45th National Karate Championships at the Birmingham NIA on Saturday 14th May.
The first dan, who won three fights to take her place in the final in kumite took first place and brought home a gold medal and National trophy for the second consecutive year. Nicole trains hard under the watchful eye of Sensei Ian Roberts at Sutton Leisure Centre, she attends additional training at Halewood Karate, and ensures she stays in peak condition training at her sponsors Central Fitness, Duke Street, St Helens.
St Helens Karate would like to encourage any adults or children who would like to attend classes, whether you have trained in years gone by or looking to take on a new venture, it’s fantastic for self defence, self confidence, self esteem, reduces stress relief and improves fitness. Why not give it a go? First lesson is free, training takes place at Sutton Leisure Centre, Elton Head Road, Tuesdays and Thursday 6.30pm to 8pm. No joining fee.
