Sculpture Park Visit
28.11.2011On Friday 18th November, Year10 art students visited the Yorkshire
Sculpture Park in Wakefield. There was lots to see and do, including a trek around the park to see nature and a range of contemporary sculptures in a new surrounding. We went to see an exhibition of work by Spanish Artist Jaume Plensa, the creator of the Dream Sculpture in Sutton. Students were able to see first hand the scale and materials the artist used to produce work that will be exhibited both indoors and outdoors.
Some artworks were interactive and students wasted no time making themselves heard! All students conducted themselves excellently and were a credit to themselves and the Academy. - Mrs White
‘The trip was great! We saw lots of different sculptures and wildlife in the Sculpture Park, lots of walking was involved. We went into the
underground gallery that had Jaume Plensa’s sculptures and images on the walls. There were lots of activities to interact with which was different to what I thought a gallery would be like.’ - By Rebecca Byrne 10C and Rebecca Makin 10U
