Suttons Strongest Man

01.10.2010

Congratulations to Kyle Curtis (12INN) who lifted the inaugural 6th Form Suttons Strongest Man trophy.

The event held at Fitness 500 became a two horse race with Kyle dominating the bench and leg press stages, but Jason Owens-O'Brien took the chin up stage with ease. It all came down to the gruelling 500m row which saw Kyle triumph by a mere 2 seconds!

On Friday 1st October it is the turn of Year 11s and Friday the 8th will be the Year 10s event. Those wishing to participate need to sign up with Mr Lane, transport will be provided to and from Fitness 500 and the contest will be finished by 4pm.

Also a huge thank you to John Tatlock the owner of Fitness 500 for hosting the competition.

Congratulations to Zach 'the Hulk' Hogan (11AMY), who took the Year 11 Suttons Strongest Man title. The contest was extremely close and literally came down to the final rep/second with Adam Almond (11JME) and Liam Auker (11KNN) in hot pursuit.

The Year 10 Strongest Man was the closest competition to date, with all entrants putting in superhuman performances. Chris Whittle (10SWS) won both the bench press and chin ups, Andy Clare (10MBA) took the leg press and 250m row, Liam Ashton (10AWA) put in a brave performance and Mike Dearden's (10RLD) scores were solid in every event.

In the end it came right down to counting every rep and second with Andy Clare taking the title, with Michael Dearden coming in a close second. Well done to all entrants it takes a lot of courage to enter and every participant pushed themselves to the limit and always showed support for their fellow strongmen.
