Year 11 Basketball team bounce back

The Year 11 Basketball team took part in the St Helens central venue competition at Sutton on Thursday 12 January, taking on five other
schools from the area. 

The team’s first game was against favourites and current champions, De Le Salle. A confident start saw the team take the lead, only to be pegged back by De Le Salle in the dying minutes of the game. However, the majestic and captain of the team Cash Burns put a 3 pointer in to seal a memorable victory and what went on to be the most successful nights for the academy's basketball teams in recent years.

The team later went on to beat Hope Academy and Cowley onvincingly
later in the tournament and sat proudly at joint second by the end.
The team with Cash Burns as captain, Sam Coulson, Ben Green, Richard Dickinson, Dylan Donoghue, Chris Whittle, Curtis Wise and Ryan Owen all did the academy proud, and with a little more practice, who knows what they might be capable of in the next competition which is to be played in a few week’s time.
