Year 7 Rugby League Match
30.09.2010Year 7’s Sutton 50 St Augustine’s 0
Sutton came away with a comprehensive victory against a very spirited team. Sutton started the scoring with Ben Heyes, with Callum Hazzard converting the try. Further tries in this half came from Danny Edwards and Jack Stevens. Excellent defence was the key to this win, with St Augustine’s kept out after 4 consecutive sets of tackles. The next Set was one of the tries of the match, with excellent team play led to the ball being given to Jack Stevens who gave a lovely 20 yard pass to winger Lewis Padmore to score in the corner. Half time score was 20-0 to Sutton.
The second half began with some brilliant bone crunching tackles from James Hurst and Kane Mahon to name a few. Danny Edwards crashed over for his second try due to excellent strong running and great organisational play from Jake Dawson. Captain Joe Eccleston Scored straight from the restart with an 80 metre effort, converted by himself from the touchline.
More excellent tackling came from Luke Pilling, Callum Hazzard and Liam Rattigan forcing St Augustine’s to lose the ball and Brandon Smith sending Jack Stevens on a 50 metre gallop to score his second.
Final Score 50-0 to Sutton and an excellent warm up for the first big game of the year with an away Trip to Rainford High in the Carnegie Cup!
