GDPR

What is General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?

The GDPR is Europe’s new framework for data protection laws – it came into force on 25th May 2018 at the same time as the UK’s Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018).

These new regulations work together to control the way information is collected, stored and processed. Many organisations including schools, academies and other educational establishments now operate within this new legal framework.

Although the UK has now left the EU the GDPR remains in force, alongside the DPA 2018, and this will continue to be the case for the foreseeable future.

At The Sutton Academy we are working hard to become compliant with these new rules and regulations and have altered many of our policies and procedures in order to better protect the data we hold about our staff, students and parents.

Please view/download below important information for staff, students and parents relating to how we use the data that we collect.
