Corridors at the Academy were transformed into a colourful celebration of imagination last week as staff and students marked World Book Day with a stunning display of creativity. Several classrooms unveiled hand‑painted, book‑themed doors — turning the school’s learning spaces into vibrant gateways to some of literature’s most beloved stories.

From the magical to the whimsical, each design brought a classic book to life. Visitors were greeted by the emerald tones and iconic imagery of Wicked, the environmental message of Dr Seuss’ The Lorax, and the whimsical curiosity of Alice in Wonderland. Other standout creations included the frosty, lantern‑lit world of The Chronicles of Narnia and a richly detailed tribute to Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

Staff praised the effort, teamwork and artistic talent poured into each doorway, noting that the project not only brightened the environment but also encouraged students to engage with reading in a fun and inspiring way.

The celebration formed a key part of the Academy’s wider World Book Day activities, all designed to spark a love of stories and promote literacy across all year groups.

“This project was a brilliant showcase of imagination and creativity,” said one staff member. “It’s wonderful to see the corridors come alive with the books our students love.”

The Academy’s book‑themed doors will remain on display throughout the week, offering students and visitors a chance to enjoy the artistry behind each design — and perhaps discover their next great read.
