Year 9 visit to Chinatown

Celebrating Lunar New Year!

Students in Year 9 had a wonderful visit to Liverpool’s Chinatown to mark the Lunar New Year celebrations. During the trip, they learned about the rich history and cultural significance of the iconic Chinatown arch - with it being gifted to the city from Shanghai in 2000 and standing tall at 50ft - the tallest in Europe!

Students then enjoyed a delicious lunch at Maggie Fu’s restaurant, where they had the opportunity to sample a variety of traditional Chinese dishes. It was fantastic to see so many students trying new foods and embracing the experience with enthusiasm. They also developed a new skill of using chop sticks!

We were incredibly proud of our students, who demonstrated impeccable behaviour throughout the trip and truly embodied our academy values of kindness, being reflective, showing resilience, and being part of a community.

This memorable visit was a brilliant way to round off our Lunar New Year celebrations and provided students with meaningful cultural experiences that will stay with them for years to come.
