Trip to Berlin

History Students Experience Berlin’s Past in Unforgettable Overseas Trip
Students and staff from our History department have returned from an unforgettable educational adventure in Berlin, where iconic landmarks and powerful historical sites brought their GCSE studies to life.
Over the course of the visit, students explored the Reichstag Building, gaining first-hand insight into Germany’s political history, before walking along the remains of the Berlin Wall, a globally recognised symbol of the Cold War. The group also toured the vast Olympic Stadium, discovering its origins and the historical significance of the 1936 Games.
One of the most memorable moments came during an underground tour of a former escape tunnel, where students learned about the remarkable—and often risky—attempts made by East Berliners trying to flee to the West.
The trip also included a journey to the top of the Berlin TV Tower, offering spectacular panoramic views across the city, and a deeply reflective visit to Sachsenhausen Memorial, where students gained a powerful and thought‑provoking understanding of its history.
