Race for the Line
The Bloodhound SSC project is a British engineering project with the aim of producing a car that will go faster than 1000 mph.
As part of the project, engineers will need to find new solutions to increase power output from the engine, reduce friction and drag on the car. To do this many new engineers with innovative ideas will need to be trained.
The school based “Race for the Line” project aims to introduce young people to the possibility of becoming an engineer. During the activity learners built model rocket cars and raced them during a designated race day at school.
The team with the fastest car will now represent the academy at a regional finals day in Manchester, and if they are successful, they will go on to represent the academy at a national final.
