GCSE Success

The Sutton Academy celebrates another year of excellent results.

Principal, Alison Sherman, said "I am very proud of our students, they have worked incredibly hard and deserve every success.”

The results support Ofsted’s findings that “Students are making impressive progress” with 72% of students gaining 9-4 grades in mathematics and across the curriculum similarly high performance areas are RE with 92% 9-4 grades, psychology 88%, biology 88% and chemistry 94%.

Ofsted also noted that the most able students are beginning to flourish and live up to the higher expectations that leaders and teachers have of their learning.  This is evidenced by the high proportion of students gaining the top 9-7 grades for example in RE 50% of students gained 9-7 grades with 17% gaining grade 9s.  In chemistry 53% gained 9-7 grades and 24% grade 9s.  Similar success was seen in business with 53% Distinction/Distinction* grades and childcare 58% Distinction/Distinction* grades.

“I would like to congratulate all our students on their personal achievements.  They have been supported throughout by their parents, and of course our dedicated staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure that all our students can achieve to the best of their ability.” Alison Sherman.
