Students enter the virtual world with Glass Futures

Please enter an introduction for your news story here.

Glass futures are currently building a site next to the Totally Wicked Stadium, they are a not for profit organisation aiming to reduce the environmental impact of the glassmaking industry. Due to St Helens having such a history with glass they wanted to link in with a number of schools in the area and involve year 9 students with the project.

Today we welcomed them to the academy where they gave lessons to 17 students in relation to glass, and the process involved and also the sustainability of glass. Today's sessions allowed the students to go into the virtual world and learn how to operate the machines.

We will be finishing the venture with Glass Futures in June when we will attend The World of Glass and see in reality how glass is made.

The students have really enjoyed the experience so far and are looking forward to the trip.
