In this section we will share with you information regarding our on-site testing for *students and staff.
Prior to the lockdown announced on Monday 4 January, we had been working on implementing a testing system onsite for all students using new/quicker Covid-19 tests known as ‘lateral flow tests’.
Along with the other protective measures that we are taking, these tests will help staff and students to remain in the academy safely. Up to one third of people who have coronavirus experience have no symptoms, and so by testing we will help to stop the spread of the virus and help to keep the academy open as safely as possible.
We aim to test all students who are continuing to access the onsite *Critical Worker and ‘vulnerable’ student provision to ensure that everyone who attends is safe. The test is voluntary but we would encourage everyone to take it. Initially it would involve two tests, 3 to 5 days apart. After this point the tests will only then be used so students can stay in the academy should they have been in close contact with a positive case on site.
