Useful Government Guidance

The following documents and links will provide more detailed guidance in relation to school attendance. These guidance documents form the basis of our approach to supporting good attendance.

Working together to improve school attendance: This is the main guidance that the academy uses to support, monitor and intervene with attendance. Within it you will find:

  • A summary of the roles and responsibilities of parents and carers, schools, trusts, governing bodies and local authorities
  • A summary of the support that should be provided to families, and to pupils who are persistently or severely absent, or at risk of becoming so
  • An overview of the legal interventions available to schools and local authorities when attendance support does not work, is not engaged with or is not appropriate

Summary of responsibilities where a mental health issue is affecting attendance: This document builds on the Working together to improve school attendance guidance and the academy will use this to support students displaying any social, emotional or mental health issue that is affecting their attendance.

The education hub: The Education Hub is a site for parents, pupils, education professionals and the media that captures all you need to know about the education system. You’ll find accessible, straightforward information on popular topics, Q&As, interviews, case studies, and more.
