Together Students Achieve

Languages

Come learn a language with us and be a part of the great, wide world. Learning a language will enrich your life.

You will learn about other countries and cultures and develop a skill which is very highly valued by employers and universities alike. In fact, a recent survey by CILT found that employers rank foreign language skills as second only to IT when it comes to finding the right candidate. Remember also that a good GCSE in a language is a requirement of the English Baccalaureate award (EBacc).

We are proud to announce that the academy has had International School status since 2012; certainly our foreign visits and languages projects play a significant role in keeping this award.

The academy offers French or Spanish from beginner to A level and German is taught from Year 9 onwards. We have subscribed to ActiveLearn so that students studying GCSE in Years 9-11 can use online resources both in school and at home to develop their language skills using Viva for Spanish, Studio for French and Stimmt for German.

With our very own languages website, home learning is also fun. This popular website is jam-packed with games and activities to help learners at every level to succeed in language learning and it is widely used by other top schools. You could even teach yourself some Russian! Click on this link and give it a try now.
